Title: Enacting Ontario’s Health Care Consent Act in 2025: Practical challenges in healthcare organizations

Abstract: Drawing on service data and stories from ethics consultation in acute care, mental health and addictions, and long-term care, this talk will discuss complexities in practice related to patient capacity, informed consent, advance care planning, and substitute decision-making. We will explore possibilities for proactive intervention at the level of organizations and health systems.
